Weight Training presents a systematic procedure for learning how to use weights as part of a fitness program and how to designing your own program to fit your personal goals. Baechle and Groves stress safety as they make recommendations for building a weight training program. Weight Training has all the information one needs to begin using weights no matter what the goal: increased muscle tone, body sculpting, or increased strength.
Although all the information is present, there are many charts, self-tests, and "steps" that inhibit free access to the information. Pieces of information are often broken up by these charts and tables sometimes separating contiguous information by as much as two to three pages. With a massive redesign, this could be a superior guide for high school, college, or individual training. I suggest that all the "scholarly" information should be moved together at the front of the book, leaving the remainder of the book as a workbook to design one's own program.
