Waller creates some of the best romantic writing I have seen, unfortunately the story line of the book ends long before he ran out of words. This book is so popular because it deals with feelings that are common today: feeling trapped, wishing for a sensual lover that understands and accepts me as a person. The characters in Bridges experience a love and acceptance, but the narrative kept going long after I got the point, and I could only feel gushy and romantic so long before I wanted to experience another feeling.

Worth reading, if only so you can be conversant with the millions of others who have also read Waller, but also expect a let down at the end.
