The Allen family spends the summer at Mrs. Allen's family farm, Dibble Hollow. When they arrive, they hear rumors that ghosts haunt Dibble Hollow. The Allen's 13-year-old son, Pug, soon meets the ghost of his great uncle Miles. Miles died as a child 60-years earlier while he and his friend Eb Smith carried home the money the Allen asd Smith families earned at the County Fair. Eb Smith still owns the farm neighboring Dibble Hollow and carries on the feud between the two families over the lost money. With Miles's help, Pug tries to piece together the events on the night of Miles death with the intention of finding the lost money and ending the feud.
A lighthearted story with enough suspense to keep you reading but written at a level appropriate for young readers. Scholastic no longer has The Ghost of Dibble Hollow in print, but I have seen copies on Amazon and in used book stores. It's worth owning, and your kids will love the story.
