This miniature book reviews twenty-four typical hot sauces, from the Louisiana-style Tabasco to the super-hot Dave's Insanity Sauce. I like hot sauce review books because I can usually find some new varieties of sauce to look for and try. Hot Sauces provided brief reviews of about eight sauces I had never encountered before.
Hot Sauces also includes sixteen simple recipes, mostly for making marinades, sauces, or drinks. It does include an interesting recipe for a spicy apricot jam but omits any main dishes.
Stacey admits in her introduction that a small book only gives her enough space to list her favorite sauces. The hot sauce connoisseur will not find enough new to make this book worthwhile, but the newcomer might find this a handy resource for experimenting with various styles of sauce.
