George and Harold use the 3-D Hypno-Ring to hypnotize their teacher Ms. Ribble. Defects in the 3-D Hypno-Ring (which created Captain Underpants in the first place) cause hypnotized women to do the opposite of any hypnotic suggestions. Of course, Harold tells hypnotized Ms. Ribble, "And you won't do anything crazy, like turn into Wedgie Woman." Too late, they have created a monster. A monster that kidnaps George and Harold and builds replacement robots that attack Captain Underpants with spray starch.
Wedgie Woman has several funny moments, but recycles too much of its humor from the first four books. It easily surpasses the nearly awful Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants, but doesn't show the originality Pilkey used to create the early books.
