Even if you haven't ever seen Young Frankenstein, you have probably heard at least half of the dialog from ubiquitous quotes and samples. The script by Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks spoofs its predecessors and the black-and-white horror movie genre but these spoofs synergistically create an icon of comedy.

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) has inherited his grandfather's castle. Assisted by his assistant Elizabeth (Madeline Kahn) and Igor (Marty Feldman), Frankenstein recreates the Creature (Peter Boyle). That sums up the plot, but doesn't begin to describe the nonstop comedy bits that fill every minute with silly antics that one cannot do justice to out of context. How do you adequately describe jokes that now reside soundly in American culture? You can't. So just make sure that you see Young Frankenstein at least once in your life.
